Way to Go, Average Joe!
"Yeah, great job, Joe. Your Championship Series Predictions are great!"
Wait, what? People AREN'T saying that?
Before I get into this, is anyone still watching baseball with me? Is there any genuine fans of America's pastime? I know I'm still watching and, frankly, I couldn't be happier my World Series choices are currently both a game away from going to the driving range. It's exciting!
How are they doing it? What is propelling the Rangers and Giants ahead of the Phils and Yanks? Simple: Fundamental Baseball. (and confidence!) The starters are pitching deep into games, and their bullpens are cleaning up the mess. And both of these teams' batting orders are getting it done when it counts (against some Hall of Fame worthy pitching).
Confidence is definitely a factor here too, folks. Most major sports networks and websites did not see these ball clubs getting through this round. Where there is a will, there is a way.
On another note, I'm disheartened at the lack of baseball supporters this late into the season. The ratings do not lie, and the sports fans of the world are all about football. This past week, Monday night football (yeah, the Titans/Jags beat down) had a higher rating (7.2) then the Yankees/Rangers contest (6.5). That pretty much demonstrates the baseball popularity right now.
A Red Sox/Yankees ALCS is needed for this sport next year. The decline of baseball is coming, and sports biggest rivalry of the past decade (and beyond) is the only thing to save it.
Thoughts, comments, and trashing on my predictions (as you should) are welcomed below.

I'm still on the baseball bandwagon so to speak. I still think it's the best sport and unequivocally America's Pastime; this NFL popularity will die down, mark my words, and the MLB will swoop in to be #1 because of consistency.
ReplyDeleteI still agree with your prediction of Yankees in 7. Why? Because we're not lucky enough to see them lose to a Cinderella-esque Rangers team. The Yankees almost always find a way to win (and piss me off) so I don't think it will be any different this season.
As for Giants/Phillies, I think tonight is make or break. The Giants cannot let Philadelphia win tonight and bring the game back to Philly. I think it would be a death sentence for the Giants' season to bring the series to the Phillies' turf.
