Bruins Aim for 5 Straight vs Rangers
The Boston Bruins have been one of the more impressive stories in the early 2010-11 campaign, mostly due to their current 4-game winning streak and the stellar goaltending by Tim Thomas over that span. By all indications, however, Tuukka Rask will be back between the pipes for the first time in two weeks when the Bruins host the Rangers tonight. Rask gave up 4 goals in his only start of the season -- a 5-2 loss to Phoenix in Prague on opening day -- but he wasn't exactly at fault on all of those tallies. And even though Thomas is red-hot, coach Claude Julien is perfectly confident in going to his other option.
Why shouldn't he be? After all, Rask was expected to carry the load heading into this season. Thomas has been stellar, and that makes their platoon that much more formidable. In an NHL that oftentimes shows platoons to be more effective than singular stars at the goaltending position, the Bruins are probably the best in the league between the pipes. If Tuukka can bounce back after a long lay-off with a strong performance in front of the Garden crowd tonight, it will be just another factor that will make this Boston squad one of the most well-rounded in the Eastern Conference.
Can the B's make it two in a row at home and five straight overall? With a win, they could potentially grab possession of first place in the Northeast division. The action starts on NESN at 7 PM tonight.
