Celtics Draft Texas Guard Avery Bradley
Well, you can spray the fire extinguisher on any lingering rumors of the Celtics trading that #19 selection with Kendrick Perkins or any other package to get veteran help or acquire more draft picks. With the 19th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, the C's selected Texas point guard Avery Bradley.
With this pick, the C's get the backup point guard that they need (it is likely that Nate Robinson will be gone) and they get an exceptional athlete in the process. Two years ago, this kid was ranked the top high school athlete over John Wall. Wall has since excelled at the NCAA level, but Bradley definitely has the physical tools to become a player. Interesting pick, but not too bad. Hopefully he can become the bench spark that we will need to bring in that can successfully run and energize the offensive unit at critical times in the game. Avery Bradley, welcome to Boston.

Very interesting pick. Great athlete, plenty of "upside". Will have to wait and see, but Danny has had some decent results at this point in the draft previously, so I have to hope he's right on this one.
ReplyDeleteI know ESPN is touting him as a future point guard, but he's been described as a "catch and shoot guy". Sound familiar???
July 1st is just around the corner and with that comes free agency, could this make it definite that the Celts will be pursuing possibly Joe Johnson and parting ways with Ray? Or will Bradley strictly be looked at as a backup for Rondo at point? As free agency opens up and Doc decides his future, the roster picture will become clearer. It'll be interesting to see it play out.
I hope they go after Johnson. I think you need to transition out of the Big Three eventually, and as much as I love Ray, it makes the most sense to replace him first. And I sense that Bradley will pretty much just be the bench point guard, because it is likely that Nate Robinson leaves. But only time will tell for sure.
