10/29 NBA Recap: Top 5?
Well last night, the Celtics beat the new and improved New York Knicks, thanks in large part to Rajon Rondo's impressive triple-double, including 24 assists, second-only to Bob Cousy for a Celtics record. Here are some of my random thoughts for the game:
-I'm 94% positive that the TD Garden uses Madden's soundtrack for house music. It's not a bad thing, I generally don't get enough of "Crazy Train" while playing Madden, so the 12 times they play it during Celtics games get me up to par.
-Glen Davis is a strong candidate for 6th Man of the Year Award if he keeps playing as well as he is now. Meanwhile, Ronny Turiaf is well on his way to winning the "Best Facial Hair" award in the NBA, barring Delonte West growing mutton-chops.
-Danilo Gallinari is turning into a pretty good player in the NBA (ditto for Andrea Bargnani.) This may prove to the Knicks fans that booed him at the 2008 NBA draft that the jeers were unwarranted. The same cannot be said for Frederick Weiss, however. Does the emergence of Gallinari and Bargnani as formidable players mean that there will be another influx of European players in the NBA? Um, no. At least we can only hope it doesn't.
-Last night's performance solidifies the fact that Rondo is a Top 5 PG in the NBA right now. He makes everyone around him better, is unselfish (as evidence by the assist numbers), can bang in the pain (cue the sophomoric giggles because of the unintended innuendo), and plays well on defense (unlike Steve Nash.) If he had a consistent jump shot, I'd be willing to say he is as good as Deron Williams, and not far behind Cp3.
Elsewhere in the NBA, Brooke Lopez is becoming one of the better centers in the NBA, putting up 29 points and 6 rebounds in a win against Sacramento. Oh yeah, and he can shoot free throws (going 13-15 from the line, 87%), a rare skill for a center (hi Dwight.)
The Pistons got "Thunder-struck" (Too. Much. Madden. Music. Ugh.) in a nail-biter. As always, Kevin Durant was amazing, but I was really surprised by Rodney Stuckey and Ben Gordon, with 56 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists between them. It's too bad they're on the Semi-Bizzaro Celtics (a veteran team that isn't successful.)
And my "Barely Related to the NBA Rant of the Day," is on that little Asian guy who is in the Adidas commercials needs to go away. He was unfunny in The Hangover (a movie that will forever be the benchmark of overrated comedies), and his act aged faster than Taylor Hicks' hair. David Stern must have enough clout to get this guy off my TV screen permanently.
Blake Griffin Watch: 14 points, 10 rebounds. DOUBLE-DOUBLE!
MVP of the Night: Rajon Rondo (10 points, 24 assists, 10 rebounds)
Celtics' LVP of the Night: Delonte West and Von Wafer. Cut the crap guys.

Haha funny article. Turiaf is a lock at this point for best beard.
ReplyDeleteAs a pistons fan it sucks to see rodney and ben doing so well while the rest of the team stinks it up. Semi-bizzaro indeed.
