11/11 NBA Recap: Make a Wish
Only three games last night, but they were all very exciting. Here's today's NBA Recap.
- The Celtics beat the Miami Heat 112-107. The Celtics held the lead the whole game and never looked back. Ray Allen had 35 points, including 7 three-pointers. Allen went on a tear, hitting his first seven threes. Paul Pierce also had 25 points while Rajon Rondo had 16 assists. But Rondo's shining moment was a beastly dunk, showing defenses around the league that you can't give him room in the lane. That dunk made me giddy like a school girl, and I'm not the least bit ashamed to say it. If you haven't seen the dunk, you can see it here.
- The Miami Heat won't win the NBA Championship. I'll bet 200 dollars on it. Why? Their starting PG last night had 0 assists. Their starting center last night had 0 reebounds AND 0 points. What have I been saying about depth lately? Ilgauskas is too soft to challenge players like Dwight Howard and Joakim Noah on the boards. Lebron is the only person carrying this team, as Wade doesn't play well against good teams, and Bosh straight up isn't the elite player the media has been hyping him as the last7 years. Period. Bosh was good because he was playing in Toronto, where he was the only player. Now that he is in the spotlight he is choking, because he's not good enough. Sure he had 15 points last night, but he is not living up to the hype AT ALL.
- Nate Robinson and Glen Davis combined for 18 points, and Davis had 9 rebounds. I like this. But I don't like Robinson playing point guard off the bench. He is a pure shooting guard, and isn't good enough to be the facilitator. Who's the answer? Delonte West, who will be returning in 2 games after a suspension. Awesome. The bench of Davis/Daniels/Nate(at SG)/ Delonte/ and Erden/Jermaine makes me happy. Davis has been such a good player this year, and Daniels/Erden are exceeding expectations so far. I love depth.
- The Chicago Bulls crushed the GSW by 30 points. All of Chicago's starters were in double figures, along with Kyle Korver off the bench. Golden State was without David Lee, and the Bulls capitalized by out-rebounding the Warriors 46-39. But Lee's absence doesn't account for the lack of defense and scoring. This team can push it against bottom-feeders all they want, but they might not be able to hang with elite teams.
-The Lakers received their first loss against the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets pulled off a comeback in the 4th quarter in a game where there was 14 lead changes, a stark contrast to the Celtics/Heat game. Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 32 points and 13 rebounds. Denver's speed proved to be a great counter to the Lakers' superior size. Ty Lawson had another head-turning game (scoring 17), maybe proving that he isn't just a good college player. We'll see on that.
