Tiger Woods cheated on Elin Nordegren several times during their marriage, which lasted for nearly 6 years. |
"I've been through hell," Nordegren said when asked about the whole experience. "It's hard to think you have this life, and then all of a sudden -- was it a lie? You're struggling because it wasn't real. But I survived. It was hard, but it didn't kill me."
The divorce ends a marriage that would have seen its 6th anniversary on October 5th of this year. Woods and Nordegren tied the knot on that date in 2004, a day in Barbados which Nordegren described as "one of the happiest days of [her] life." Their three-year-old daughter and 18-month-old son are hardly old enough to have the slightest clue as to what's going on.
For Tiger, one may speculate that making this official will help relieve some of the stress he has been under and allow his golf game to get back into full swing. Woods has had some struggles ever since his return at the Masters. Who would have ever thought Tiger would be on the bubble for making the Ryder Cup team?
Tiger Woods has been off his golf game since the revelation of his actions. |
"The word betrayal isn't strong enough," Nordegren admitted. "I felt like my whole world had fallen apart. It seemed that my world as I thought it was had never existed. I felt embarrassed for having been so deceived. I felt betrayed by many people around me."
And even despite getting what most believe is quite a large sum of money in the divorce settlement, Elin explained that the damage is not reparable by any means at all.
"Money can't buy happiness or put my family back together."
