Josh's NFL Pro Bowl Predictions
As of yesterday, the NFL released it's list of the Top 10 Pro Bowl "vote-getters," and I have to say, I'm a little bit disappointed. Of course, we all know the Pro Bowl is all about hype, so guys like Peyton Manning can make the Pro Bowl every year simply because of their name. So here's my list of the Top 10 Guys That If They Don't Make The Pro Bowl This Year I Will Be Very Suprised. And here's some sleeper pro bowl picks too.
10. Brandon Lloyd -One of the most underrated wide receivers in the NFL. He's having a tremendous season with Kyle Orton quarterbacking him and I can only wonder how good Lloyd could be if he was catching passes from a guy like Peyton or Tom.
9. Ndamukong Suh -My favorite lineman have always been Mathis and Freeney, perhaps the greatest tag team to ever roam the defensive line. But Suh has stepped up and shown his ability to sack, tackle, and even catch the ball. I think he's one of the best all-around lineman in the NFL which is what makes him one of the most feared and dangerous.
8. Arian Foster -Between this guy and Andre Johnson, Houston has definitely stepped up their game this year. Oh yeah, and he's the only RB averaging over 100 yards per game right now.
7. Reggie Wayne/Wes Welker - These two guys are the two best receivers in the AFC, not just for their stats, but for their ability to find their spot on fantastic football teams and not get pissed off when they're overshadowed.
6. Michael Vick - I personally love this guy as a football player. I wouldn't trust him running a kennel but that's a different story. He's an all-around amazing quarterback with multiple talents.
5. Tom Brady - He's good and we all know it. This year is no exception as he's led the Pat's to a very solid 10-2 atop the AFC East. And Peyton threw as many picks last game as Brady has all year.
4. Clay Matthews - He's a young guy leading one of the best (if not the best) defense in the league. Right now he's second in sacks. And everyone knows it's tough to get a solid passing game going if your QB's getting nailed every time he drops back.
3. Roddy White - Matt Ryan's favorite target. He's also been talked about as possibly the best receiver in the league right now. He's having his best year since 2008 and a couple good games could put him over 1,500 yards for the season.
2. Maurice Jones-Drew - the best running back in the game this year, in my opinion. If Jacksonville wins the AFC South, he'll be the reason why.
1. Phillip Rivers / Aaron Rogers - I could not decide who to put at #1, so I placed two of the NFL's top quarterbacks there. Both of them deserve pro bowl honors, no question about it.
Top 5 Pro Bowl Sleeper Picks
1. Peyton Hillis - The truest sleeper on the list. Way to go Denver, you got yourself a third string quarterback who sits behind Tim Tebow in exchange for one of the most consistent running backs in the league right now. I'm surprised that Belichick didn't snatch him up earlier.
2. Brandon Marshall - Although Miami's year has been sub-par, to say the least, Marshall is always a threat to any team and, if nothing else, has that "Moss effect."
3. Devin McCourty - It's fair to say he's a true Belichick-ian. The coach has an eye for talent and McCourty could quickly become the best corner in the AFC, if not the league.
4. Andre Johnson - I pretty much made him a sleeper pick because he's my #11 pick in the above list.
5. Antonio Gates/Aaron Hernandez/Rob Gronkowski - Basically, tight ends. I love these three guys. I'm not quite sure that the Pats rookies are quite there yet, but they may be the best pair of tight ends a team could ask for. And Antonio Gates' pl
ay speaks for itself. He's a big guy who's mobile and able to catch the ball well. He'll be in Hawaii.
Oh and by the way, before I get destroyed for not mentioning him, Peyton Manning will probably most likely almost definitely be in the Pro Bowl. In fact, I believe that even after he retires, Peyton Manning will still be receiving votes for the Pro Bowl. Brett Favre on the other hand, is optimistic about playing on Sunday. He has to keep his streak alive.
