John Henry, toss a friggen dollar to Theo. The guy will be 37 at the end of 8 years. He'll be playing, and at a good rate. I promise.

He won't pull a Manny and be an ass for 5 of the 8 years. He's a stand up guy, a hell of a ballplayer, and someone who is worth investing in. If you want to wait and see how he performs this summer, good luck competing with the Yanks in free agency (plus Pujols will be on the market, and he's going to make 1 billion dollars, giving Gonzo something to gauge his worth).

He's going to have a career year. His average is going to go up for certain, he'll more likely than not hit more round-trippers, and he's hitting in a better line-up, so he'll probably lead the team in RBI's (if not the league!). If you are worried about his shoulder, listen to him. He sounds pretty damn confident about it.

Sign him now. You won't regret it. Do you think it was a mistake signing Manny for 8 years? By the 8th year, maybe! Who cares what commotion he caused elsewhere. He was a huge part of both World Series teams! Worthwhile investment in my view. Get Gonzo under our control, please.
