Report: Rangers Spoil Yankee Party, Get Lee
According to several internet sources, the Texas Rangers have called a press conference and are expected to announce that they have acquired Cliff Lee from the Seattle Mariners. Many sources were calling Lee to the Yankees a "done deal" earlier today, but thankfully for the baseball world, Texas was able to sweep through and grab the southpaw ace. Hopefully the reports are true and Lee is headed down south.
It would have been nice for the Mariners to have Lee make his start against the Yankees before shipping him away, but at least he wasn't shipped to New York. We can be glad for that. The Yankees will have to find another ace if they want to buy themselves a cakewalk to their second consecutive world championship.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox have a left-handed ace of their own going tonight as Jon Lester takes the hill for a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Sox will look to chip away at the now 4.5 game deficit they face in the AL East division.
