Sox Lose Youkilis In 3-2 Loss to Rays
Kevin Youkilis left tonight's loss to the Tampa Bay Rays with an apparent foot injury. I have to ask this truthfully... is this real life? Jacoby, Pedroia, Youkilis, Martinez, Beckett, Buchholz, Varitek, Hermida, Cameron (on and off), Drew (at times). That's the updated list of the Red Sox roster decimated by injuries this season. I don't know how the Sox are where they are, but I sure hope this recent 2-game skid isn't a sign that they're going to start leveling off to the true talent of their depleted squad. The likes of Nava, McDonald, Patterson, Molina, Cash, and Hall will not be able to carry this team forever. Has their downslide begun?
Who knows for sure? Boston has now slipped to 3 games back of New York, still pending their result from tonight's contest with the Oakland Athletics. They are 1.5 games behind the rejuvenated Rays for second place in the division. The Sox will finish up their set with Tampa tomorrow before rounding out the first half with their next set against the Toronto Blue Jays.
