Fútbol Needs to Get Rid of This Stuff
Let's break down this play a little more closely.
0:07 - The Brazil player goes down. Rolls around on the ground, screaming in agony, holding his knee. Common knowledge would say he's either been shot with a sniper rifle from Section 341 or he has torn his ACL a la Wes Welker.
0:16 - Far side replay suggests that nobody even touched the Brazil player. Previous assumption is questioned, but nothing to confirm this theory yet.
0:22 - Near side replay confirms that the Brazil player was hardly touched and that his knee has suffered no type of unusual stress or impact.
0:27 - Play resumes. Injured Brazil player, amazingly, is able to continue playing despite the shattering blow he's received to the left knee.
I love the World Cup, but this is really, really, REALLY getting old. Stop making sport into drama.

I thought the same thing but if you look closer the Korean player steps right on top of his foot.
ReplyDeleteI understand falling to draw the call, but it's so unecessary to act hurt... just fall, get the foul call get up and play... you don't need to have a look of agony on your face gripping your knee that wasn't touched, the ref blows the whistle before he sees your acting job, so basically you just look like a pussy
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, falling is fine, everyone in every sport tries to draw calls sometimes. And if he stepped on his foot, then its a legitimate reason to fall. But not to roll around and act like he was shot in the knee as I described in the write up. That's just absurd and it's why soccer is struggling to gain credibility in the States lol.
