Jordan to Cover NBA 2k11
Kotaku - K Sports just confirmed to CNBC that Michael Jordan, as rumored earlier, will be featured on the cover of NBA 2K11. Asked how Jordan would appear in the game, 2K said only that there will be "some really good surprises."
2k Sports's claim here is that they have the best video game ever, and so they felt it was appropriate for the best basketball player ever to be on the cover. For me personally, I love this move. Goes hand in hand with the slap to the dick life has given LeBron lately. First the Celtics plaster him and put his head on a stake outside the Garden. Now Jordan gets the cover of 2k11 over LeBron. NBA 2k11 feels Jordan's the best player ever. And he is. Jordan = 6 titles. LeBron = 0 titles. LeBron's been around 7 years now. How long is everyone going to keep saying he's still young?
Anyway, I'm real interested to see what sneaky "surprises" this game has up its sleeve to unveil Jordan. Like what kind of a surprise could bring out Michael Jordan in a modern sports video game? Will he be sitting in the free agent pool named "Player" like he was in NBA '99 for PlayStation? Or will he be a broadcaster? Or maybe he will be reincarnated into the incoming draft class as a rookie. But they'll make sure he gets picked second, not first. And the first pick of that draft will turn out to be the biggest bust ever. So many possibilities for how they will "surprise" us with MJ. Makes me feel obligated to buy the game now and find out for myself. Good job 2k Sports. Good job.
