LeBron says Cleveland has an edge... wait, nobody cares?
Yahoo! Sports - In his first interview since the Cavs’ season ended with a shocking, second-round loss to Boston, James told CNN’s Larry King that Cleveland “does have an edge” to re-sign him when the greatest collection of free agents in league history hits the open market on July 1.
Phew! That's good to know. LeBron has given Cleveland the edge in the free agency sweepstakes. Now I can sleep easy at night without this psychological burden on me. Wait, what? Oh, no one cares about the LeBron free agency sweepstakes because he can't be signed until after July 1st and it's only June 2nd in the midst of a Celtics-Lakers NBA finals? Oh, well damn, you should have told me. Here I am thinking LeBron is the biggest story in the NBA right now. Well at least that's what the media thinks. Seriously, I'm pretty tired of all the attention this guy draws to himself. You got your shit tossed in the second round of the playoffs. So I'm sorry if your leave of absence from the front page of every newspaper is a little bit prolonged because of your PCS (playoff choke syndrome). Deal with it. I don't see Dwyane Wade making headlines. Or Chris Bosh. Or Joe Johnson. None of the other big name free agents are being talked about. So why is LeBron? It's against the league policy for any new teams to negotiate with him yet. So I can promise you Cleveland is the only team who can sign LeBron in the next 29 days. So who the fuck cares where he's going right now? It's like talking about who is going to be the opening day starter for the Red Sox at Christmas time. Except discussing it every day, relentlessly.
Vote 1 for this is nonsense and LeBron should be getting media coverage right now. Vote 5 for I'm sick of this shit.

i vote 5. screw the Cavs Screw the Bulls and Screw the Knicks becuase Lebron is going to be a Member of .........The New Jersey Nets! if Jay Z and the russian guy wants Jay Z and the russian guy gets.
ReplyDeleteThat russian guy you speak of is my idol.
ReplyDeletewhy do you hate on LeBron for this? He was asked by a reporter if he thought any one had an edge in signing him and he said the Cavs do. I give him credit for answering a question honestly instead of giving the stupid "I'm not comfortable discussing this" answer.
ReplyDeleteYou raise a good point and my explanation would be that if I expressed any hating directly on LeBron himself it was not intended. My hating is more on the fact that the media is all over him when far more important things are going on. I know LeBron can't control that. And I think he's handled it well. He hasn't said much, and he shouldn't... because he can't go anywhere until July 1. But any hating was intended to be directed at the media coverage of LeBron and not LeBron himself.
ReplyDeleteword just wanted to make sure haha. I agree that the media needs to leave it alone until after the playoffs but we both know it is the second biggest story in basketball right now. I just like Lebrons honesty about it, something that you don't see in today's free agent age.
ReplyDeleteYeah definitely... I'm also impressed by the way he's handled it. He could be a complete attention whore right now and distract the media away from the finals by even saying he was thinking about going to NY. But he respects that nothing can happen for another month so there's no use talking about where he's going yet. And Cleveland can sign him before that date, so, being honest, he's right -- they have the edge. Very straight-forward.
