Bruins Sign Seguin
Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli has continued to stay the course that he said he planned to stay today, signing second overall selection Tyler Seguin to a contract with the team. Per team policy, terms of the deal weren't released; however, most believe it is similar to the contract that Edmonton signed top pick Taylor Hall to last month. That contract includes the max base salary of $900,000 and could hit anywhere up to $3.75 million annually with incentives and bonuses.
Not that there was any doubt, but Bruins fans can rest easy and await the start of the season with great excitement now. Seguin was really the final piece of the puzzle to sign, and now it will just be a question of getting the final roster to take its shape. They are still salary cap competent right now, and they will be until the day Marco Sturm returns from his ACL injury.
Will Seguin be on the ice with the Bruins when they open the season in Prague? I believe so. But just like any rookie, he still needs to work his tail off and earn his spot to wear the black and gold sweater.
