Jacoby Activated.... Finally
After spending about 258 years on the disabled list, Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is set to make his return to the team today. Ellsbury was injured during a collision with Adrian Beltre back in the first week of the season, and he's just never regained his full health since. There have been dozens of questions regarding Jacoby's commitment to the team, mainly because of his extended stay in Arizona for what he claimed was a rehab program. Either way, Ellsbury has been activated and will hopefully start contributing once again.
If you ask me, there was nothing wrong with Jacoby being away for rehab or whatever it was. Yeah, he wasn't with the team, and people may have wished he was. But if it's true that the Red Sox advised him to go to Arizona -- and if he truly believed he would have been a distraction to the team hanging around -- there's no problem here. We all loved the kid, and then a treacherous rib injury is going to make us hate him? Newsflash, Adrian Beltre fucking blasted Ellsbury in the ribs with his knee. Beltre's a tank. That shit hurts. So I'm not blaming him for missing so much time. Look at the damn team. Everyone's hurt. Why are we bashing Jacoby for being out? I'm upset he was out for so long, but if he's back healthy now, then so be it. Move forward. Let's get this division. I know we can. You know we can. It's just a matter of executing. It starts by getting everyone back healthy. Jacoby is one more piece to the puzzle.
