Should Albert Haynesworth Just Retire?
So for those of you who aren't informed, let me break down the last four rigorous days of Redskins training camp for Albert Haynesworth. On Thursday, Haynesworth failed the mandatory conditioning test after taking what ESPN called an "extended bathroom break" during the middle of the session. On Friday, he failed the test again after posting an insufficient time. On Saturday, he sat out and didn't take the test because of a sore knee. On Sunday, he did the same thing, with his sore knee as the excuse. Then today arrived. What did Haynesworth do? Obviously he sat out again, still with a sore knee. What the shit is going on with Albert Haynesworth?
We're talking about a guy who most people used to consider the best defensive lineman in the league. When Tennessee had that spectacular defense in 2008 and started 10-0, everyone said it was Haynesworth's doing. And now the guy can't pass a damn conditioning test for his life? And he's sitting out with a sore knee after failing the test on consecutive days before? How the fuck did he hurt his knee? Running the 40? I just don't get it. And if Haynesworth thinks he can just get off without passing this test and slide into training camp, he's wrong. Mike Shanahan is the boss in Washington now. Maybe Albert could have maneuvered his way into being a lazy bastard with the old coaching staff. Not now. Shanahan doesn't take that shit. Kind of like Belichick in a way. If you can't pass a conditioning test, you sure as hell can't start on my NFL team. So Haynesworth better get his act together or he'll find himself getting cut and scooped up by Oakland or Cleveland or Detroit. And that's just the sign of the apocalypse in the world of an NFL player. So my advice to Albert is to stop being a pussy and take the test and work your ass off so that you can be a part of a winning team. That is all.
