Favre Boards Plane for Minnesota
I'm subscribed to get ESPN's text message alerts for breaking news in the sports world. And sometimes I feel like I got some subscription to get by-the-minute updates to Brett Favre's life. Because that's what we get. Favre's getting his ankle looked at. Favre is in Mississippi. Jared Allen, Ryan Longwell, and Steve Hutchinson of the Minnesota Vikings are currently flying to Mississippi to talk to Favre. Favre is sitting down with his teammates drinking coffee. Favre is taking a bathroom break from the meeting with his teammates. Favre and his teammates are getting on a plane back to Minnesota. This must mean Brett Favre is playing for the Vikings this season.
And finally, after talking in a big circle of pointless news, we have... gotten no where. I've learned nothing new from today's developments. Hell, I didn't even know Favre was somewhere other than Minnesota. So as far as I'm concerned, nothing has changed. When he had surgery, it meant he was coming back. When he got his ankle checked out, it meant he was coming back. When he said he was retiring, it meant he was coming back. And now that he's on a plane to Minnesota, it means he's coming back. The point is, nothing means anything with Brett Favre until he actually pulls the jersey onto his back. So for the love of God, ESPN, please tell me when that happens and only when that happens. Because as far as I'm concerned, I'm just getting flooded with updates about a regular 40-year old man who isn't currently playing in the NFL.
PS -- If Favre is back, he'll likely need to be inserted into my top 10 fantasy QBs, even though I'm not a Favre fan. He'll be on the list.
