VOTE NOW on Fight #18: Scal vs Big Unit
vs
The Matchup: Boston Celtics forward Brian Scalabrine against former fireballer Randy Johnson.
The Fight: In the biggest size matchup we've had so far, these two guys are nearly a push. Scal stands at 6'9" and weighs 235 lbs, while Randy stands at 6'10" and weighs 225 lbs. Johnson is clearly the more lanky type and probably has a good reach, while scal seems more compact and proportional for his size. You know what I mean? Randy is so lanky that he looks freakishly tall. Scal is proportional to his extreme height so that you may not know he was so tall unless he was standing next to someone else. In that sense he probably has better control over his body, which means the ground might be the best place for him to bring the fight. Can he get it there? I think so. The Big Unit will want to stand the fight up and throw punches with his advantage in wingspan. If Scal takes him down, he won't have a chance. Will he be able to fend off any takedown attempts long enough to see Scal sleeping in the middle of the ring?
My Vote: I think not, the above question. The Big Unit is big, but I think Scal would have no problem taking him down to the ground. And even if Johnson escaped from the ground positions once or twice, he wouldn't be able to do it consistently. Scal will bring this fight to the ground and win this fight on the ground. Brian Scalabrine submits Randy Johnson in the second round with a knee bar, nearly breaking Johnson's leg.
Your turn. Time to vote the winner on to the next round.
