Bruins Sign Seidenberg to 4-Year Deal
Huge signing here. Seidenberg was big for us down the stretch. And everyone was waiting for the B's to pull the trigger on this. Finally it happens. This is a big step toward a Cup run next season. It solidifies our defense. We're pretty much set on the blue line now. And what does that mean? We can focus on getting the offensive pieces we need. With the emergence of Johnny Boychuk and Dennis Seidenberg alongside Zdeno Chara, this is the first offseason where we really can feel established and settled in the defensive core. And now we can build from the back end moving forward. Taylor Hall (hopefully) can become the dynamic goal scorer he's expected to be, and they can focus on getting some help with him. Very glad to have locked up Seidenberg. This makes the Flyers success right now sting a little less, because this is essentially the first real positive news I've gotten about the black and gold since doomsday.

I believe Boychuck is still a free agent.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct. Restricted free agent though I believe. So there would really be no excuse for the Bruins letting him slip away. He proved himself as a top 4 if not a top 2 defenseman. Although he will call for a raise because his play was so solid.
ReplyDeleteboychuk is actually an unrestriced free agent. i really hope we re-sign him though, i dont see how we could let him walk.
ReplyDeleteGood call, I mixed up the UFA's with RFA's. Wheeler, Paille, Sobotka, Stuart, and McQuaid are our most notable Restricteds. But Boychuk is Unrestricted. I 100% agree though. We need to re-sign him. Was our best defenseman in the playoffs.
