Masterson Twirls Gem Against Sox
Ex-Red Sox prospect Justin Masterson took the hill against Boston last night and, needless to say, was on top of his game. Entering the game 1-5 with a 5.46 ERA, the youngster turned things around quickly in a complete game, 2-hit shutout against the Red Sox. The Indians prevailed, 11-0.
A part of you almost feels happy for the kid. He had a lot of potential here in Boston, but we could never figure out what exactly his role was. He hated to leave when we traded him. And then he had terrible struggles in Cleveland as both a starter and a reliever. So, in a way, it was good to see Masterson get back on track with a performance we know he is capable of. Unfortunately, it came against his old Red Sox, who drop to 5 games behind Tampa following the Rays' victory last night.
