Celtics Get Robbed by Refs, Still Kick Lakers' Ass, Will Win NBA Finals by End of Next Week
Oh, the sweet taste of a true victory. The Celts beat the refs and the Lakers tonight. And yes, I know the Lakers fans and the "partial" fans will tell me I'm wrong. But does anyone remember the point in the third quarter where the Lakers had 37 free throws and the Celtics had 14? And you'll sit here and say the Lakers were the ones getting robbed. Not so, my friend. The Lakers ended up shooting 41 free throws. Celtics had 26. Still a solid discrepancy. Not to mention that Kobe most definitely should have been fouled out contesting Ray Allen's layup attempt with a couple minutes to go. The NBA refs make that call 10 times out of 10 with any other player in any other situation. But they are scared to foul out Kobe. And then Ray's fifth foul was a ghost foul -- on Bryant. Didn't touch him. Ultimately, though, I'm very glad they got the win.
And this is why the Boston Celtics will win the NBA title. Refs give a game to the Lakers. But the Celtics win it. The NBA is dumping its pants right now. Because the Celtics just beat out their officials and tied this thing up at one. And now they're poised to take a commanding lead back home. Win your home games, you win the series. That simple, boys. Got terrible performances from Pierce and Garnett tonight. And we still won. Still found a way to win the game. Great defense. Great, great defense. Good transition basketball. And clutch shots. Ray Allen stepped up tonight. Who will step up in Game 3? Who knows. Could be anyone, because the Celtics are a team. The only player who consistently steps up and takes over a game himself for the Lakers is Kobe. Gasol can't do it alone. Neither can Artest or Odom. Kobe's the only one who can take the game in his hand and control the outcome. The Celtics have a number of guys who can step up. Tonight it was Ray-Ray.
Look for the Celtics to win at least two at home, if not all three. For those of you worried about whether or not the Celtics can hang with LA, you can rest easy tonight. Tomorrow will be a good day at work. Because you can live rest-assured that Boston is back in action.
Personal Fouls: LA 29, Boston 29.
Free Throw Attempts: LA 41, Boston 26.
Score: Boston 103, LA 94.
